DJI and PrecisionHawk are teaming up in order to make life on the farm easier. The companies announced plans to link DJI’s drone hardware with PrecisionHawk’s software at AUVSI’s XPONENTIAL 2016 conference in New Orleans today. The result aims to provide farmers with a complete agricultural analytics solution.

"Farmers need real-time information about their crops, their fields and their harvests, and DJI and PrecisionHawk are working together to give them what they need," said Michael Perry, director of strategic partnerships at DJI. "We are excited to make collecting and analyzing aerial data easier and more cost-effective than ever, because putting this technology within reach of working farmers will help them as well as everyone who relies on the crops they produce."

PrecisionHawk’s drone software solution, DataMapper, automatically converts aerial data into an easier-to-understand analysis. It provides orthomosaics, 3D models, crop health analysis tools, volume measurement, and the ability to collect, process, manage, share and analyze aerial data. In addition, the software allows users to communicate and collaborate with team members.

DJI’s Matrice M100 and M600 series provide users with a dust-proof propulsion, actively cooled monitors, smart flight-safety technology, and app control. The series will allow farmers to monitor their crops with advanced sensors.

The new DJI/PrecisionHawk solution will also include PrecisionHawk’s new DataMapper Inflight app, access to DataMapper’s library of analysis algorithms, and a one-year subscription to DataMapper. The DataMapper Inflight app is designed for data collection, allows users to create a flight plan that autonomously collects geospatial data, and is compatible with the entire line of DJI hardware.

"This partnership is bringing the best of both worlds to the agriculture industry," said Patrick Lohman, vice president of partnerships at PrecisionHawk. "By combining our strengths—DJI's world-renowned hardware and PrecisionHawk's seamless software tools that bridge the gap from flight to geospatial data analysis—we are effectively eliminating any major barriers to entry and allowing the industry to begin adopting this technology in their everyday workflows on a broader scale."
