A new application looks to help drone operators create and design their flight plans. Drone Volt Software, a division of Drone Volt, has announced Drone Volt Pilot, an iOS app that aims to provide pilots with a better user experience for flying their drones.

"The launch of [Drone Volt Pilot] shows the strength of our software division, reinforcing our position as a quality manufacturer with high value-added software services,” said Dimitri Batsis, president of Drone Volt. “By automating UAV flights, we significantly strengthen their value and offer the opportunity to simplify professional applications, particularly in agriculture and security. The first tests completed by certain state services have confirmed the popularity of the product. I do not doubt that [Drone Volt Pilot] will soon be in use among the 500,000 users of DJI drones.”

The application provides waypoints; a control recovery bottom for safety; the ability to pause flight plans; battery life estimation; flight limits; no-fly-zone management; the ability to take panoramic shots; “follow me” capabilities; and compatibility with the Phantom 3 Professional, Phantom 3 Advanced, Phantom 3 Standard, Inspire 1 and Inspire 1 Pro.

The company plans on releasing an Android version, a French version and an application for professionals.
