The Intel-backed drone company Yuneec International has announced its Typhoon H drone is now available for pre-order. The Typhoon H is being offered with a free Wizard controller that enables team operation and GPS tracking.

"We're excited to bring our game-changing Typhoon H to market, opening access to creative possibilities previously only available in expensive professional platforms. Now, anyone can capture incredible aerial footage like never before," said Tian Yu, CEO of Yuneec International. "It's our most advanced consumer drone ever, setting a new standard in capability and value, while being ready, easy and safe to fly."

The drone will be available for US$1,299 and feature a six-rotor airframe with full 3-axis, 360-degree gimbal and a new CGO3+ camera. In addition, it provides 4K videos, 12 megapixel stills, and new flight and image capture modes such as point of interest, orbit, curved cable and journey. Safety features include ultrasonic proximity detection that prevents collisions, and a failsafe system that allows the drone to remain stable and land if a motor fails.

The Typhoon H also comes with the ability to add mission-specific modules, and will eventually provide an Intel RealSense Technology module that uses advanced computer vision processing to allow the Typhoon H to alter its course as it encounters obstacles.

Future additions include a specialized gimbal camera that can be interchanged on the go.
